Mental Health Literacy as a Mediator on the Relationship between Depression and Actual Mental Health Help-seeking Behaviors among University Students in South Korea
Kim Hee-Chul

Abstract
The current study examined the influence of depression on actual mental health help-seeking behaviors and the mediating effect of mental health literacy on the association between depression and actual help-seeking behaviors among university students in South Korea. A total of 305 students at 6 universities in South Korea completed in-class surveys in Winter, 2018. Data was analyzed using SPSS 22.0. Results indicated that depression was negatively related to mental health literacy and positively associated with actual help-seeking behaviors. The findings from mediation analyses revealed that mental health literacy partially mediate the relationship between depression and actual help-seeking behaviors. Based on the results, implications for facilitating help-seeking behaviors among university students, limitations, and future studies were discussed.
